I painted and do calligraphy at home. The reception lady was super nice and welcoming even I speak only very little Japanese and was late. The teacher - was professional and patient - she guided me patiently through the brush making process and how to glue the brush top together. Also, you can shop for high quality stationaries in the shop. Highly recommended. Their new water colors are also terrific. To view the factory was an excellent experience. It was wonderful to make a stick with your own hand print and take it home. With that as a guide I found this experience. With the assistance of a wonderful lady who explained everything in English, we had a fantastic time creating our two brushes. We were carefully instructed by a lovely gentleman who was incredibly knowledgeable. Having lived in Japan for years and travelled the country we can honestly say this was a unique experience we don't think we could have had elsewhere. The downside is that to really understand the details behind the history you must have a great grasp of Japanese. However, you can understand most things at an intermediate level and ask questions on points that interest you.
