Visit and learn about the origin of Japanese wooden architecture.

This tour will take you to some mountains, where you will meet and talk with the
mountain foresters, carpenters, and woodworkers. You will be guided by the architects
specialized in traditional construction methods, which link the craftspeople with their
mountain communities. In talking with them, you will learn the story of wood that travels
500 years in people’s lives.

  • Accomodation:Kochinoyado The building was reconstructed using over 100-year-old cedar and cypress trees grown in Yoshino and traditional carpentry techniques. In addition, the latest high-airtight and high-insulation technologies have been incorporated to ensure both beauty and comfort

12:30 Meet up with our English guide at“Kashihara Navi Plaza”
13:00 Explore at Imaicho Town
●In Imai-cho, traditional Japanese architecture and streetscapes from the Edo period are preserved.
15:00 Check in at COCHI NO YADO.
●Learn about Japanese wooden architecture culture.
18:00 Enjoy a unique local meal.


【DAY2 11/15】
Break fast
9:00 Depart to HOUSE of MUROU.
10:00 Arrive at HOUSE of MUROU.
●this house still retains the appearance of the time when it was built 360
years ago, and people still live there with great care.
The house is a private residence not open to the public, but for this tour the owner, Mrs
Ashida, will welcome you.
12:00 Lunch at Local restaurant
14:00 Arrive at Forest
●Visit a Yoshino forestry site and meet Mr.Fukumoto, a "mountain guardian" who has been growing Yoshino cedar trees for 200 or
300 years, generation after generation.
●Walking through the forest with Fukumoto-san and engaging in dialogue, we learn about their values and spirituality as they face
nature with faith in the mountain gods.
