Boku-Undo stick ink is the the most favored by western and Asian calligraphers in the United States. Their new water colors are also terrific. To view the factory was an excellent experience. It was wonderful to make a stick with your own hand print and take it home. Excellent tour and shop.

Even though there was a language barrier, the instructor was so kind and helpful, and we were able to share a few laughs and jokes together too. My family of 5 people did the Ｍanyo Pottery Studio - Pottery Class in Naramachi. It was definitely a highlight. The pottery wheel is hard but the instruction was good and experience was fun. Our pieces arrived a couple weeks after we returned home and look beautiful. They did a great job cleaning them up and glazing with our chosen glazes. Definitely would recommend.

Me and my daughter had a wonderful time at Manyo Pottery Studio. I had never made pottery before, but the teacher was very good. A few weeks later our creations arrived by mail to our home on the other side of the globe. We recommend this experience.

As a solo female traveller I booked a pottery class in Nara and I had an excellent and safe experience. The instructor is very talented, a despite a language barrier he was able to very effectively show me how to through multiple items and even got out google translate so we could have a chat! He was very warm and welcoming and I couldn't have asked for a better experience! I ended up getting the pottery shipped to me and it turned out beautifully. Thank you very much for the experience!

My partner and I went to Nara for a day trip from Osaka. I have only done pottery a couple of times but my partner is far more capable! Both of us had a lot of fun and the experience was wonderful. The teaching method was very good, and the learning felt fun. The workshop is beautiful. The studio is in a beautiful part of Nara as well, which we loved exploring. Highly recommend, regardless of your skill level going into it!

Whilst planning a trip to Japan with my father, he asked about Japanese calligraphy. With that as a guide I found this experience. With the assistance of a wonderful lady who explained everything in English, we had a fantastic time creating our two brushes. Thoroughly recommend this experience to everyone!! My father and I were so involved in the process, we forgot to take photographs.

An Exclusive Tour To Tsubosakadera-temple at Night

I joined the activity with my husband as part of a trial program, and it was absolutely magical. Since the opera took place at the historic site of Horyuji Temple, the backstage tour was followed by a brief guided tour explaining how the wooden temple was maintained by generations of master craftsmen over a thousand years. The opera Il Trovatore (directed by Hirofumi Yoshida & Mario Binetti) also couldn’t have been set in a better place. Horyuji Temple has the intimacy of an enclosed space because of how closely the pagodas encircle the stage in front of the main hall, while offering a beautiful setting for an open air performance. Clarissa Constanzo’s breathtaking interpretation of Leonora stole the show, and her voice soared off the temple walls. It was simply sublime. The intimate reception at the end with the performers was also a very pleasant surprise and a wonderful treat. Although the location might be a little inaccessible and the cost might be prohibitive, I still highly recommend joining if there’s another opportunity to view Il Trovatore (or any performing arts for that matter) at Horyuji Temple. I really do hope that performing arts will become a regular annual event at Horyuji Temple in the near future. Highly recommended.

I tried this brush-making experience with my wife and friend. We were carefully instructed by a lovely gentleman who was incredibly knowledgeable. Having lived in Japan for years and travelled the country we can honestly say this was a unique experience we don't think we could have had elsewhere. The downside is that to really understand the details behind the history you must have a great grasp of Japanese. However, you can understand most things at an intermediate level and ask questions on points that interest you. Highly recommended.
